Leicester Dynamite Basketball Club Seniors

Competitive seniors basketball coaching and league competition for adult players in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Our Leicester Dynamite Senior squad is one of the most successful in the Leicestershire Basketball League.

It brings together graduates of our established Young Heroes pathway with adult players from around the city and county.

Our team story

Leicester Dynamite’s senior team was first established by a PE teacher at Ellis Community College and later managed by Mick Drew, who joined the club in 1978 and has been a driving force in regional basketball for many years.

The men's team has grown organically as a natural destination for players who have progressed through our Youth programme or earned a place through proven ability with other sides.

The team has been highly successful, including winning the Leicestershire Basketball League Division 1 over consecutive seasons.

Our squad reflects the breadth of our sport in Leicester. Members range from promising young players stepping up from Under 18 level through to experienced competitors  who have sustained careers in basketball over decades.

Where we compete

Leicestershire Basketball Association runs three divisions across its region. Our Senior team currently  competes in Division 1 -  the highest tier.

We play midweek fixtures, with occasional Sunday tip-offs if scheduling demands.

Most opponents are drawn from Leicestershire itself, with a small number of teams based in neighbouring towns including Kettering and Swadlincote. This keeps the league locally focused while still providing competitive basketball at a good standard.

League games typically run from October, with the exact schedule confirmed by the Leicestershire Basketball Association each year.

How we train

The Leicester Dynamite Senior side trains every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Beaumont Leys School, Anstey Lane, Leicester. LE4 3ED.

Training is replaced by gameplay when the team has a competitive fixture.
