Inclusive NBL and YBL youth basketball pathways at Young Heroes Leicester Dynamite.
Leicester Dynamite has more than three decades of experience in coaching basketball for young people in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Our Young Heroes pathway consistently produces winning sides in regional and national leagues, as well as running hundreds of sessions each year for players wanting to give our sport a try.

Founder Dave Harris began delivering basketball sessions in local schools in 1995. Two years later, with the support of dedicated volunteers including John Pinches, Leicester Dynamite was officially formed.
The club entered the National League for the first time in 2003, fielding an Under 16 side in the Midlands Conference. We made an immediate impact by winning the league in our first season.
Our programme broadened to Under 18 level, winning the league again for the next two consecutive seasons. An Under 12 team was then introduced. From there, the club grew year on year. One or two teams have since won their league each season - with all teams regularly finishing in the top three.
Generous support from Samworth Brothers in 2020 enabled us to develop additional teams at Under 13 and Under 15 levels. Two years later, further funding supported the introduction of Under 17 boys and Under 18 girls teams.
Samworth Brothers also supported our club in delivering holiday activities during school holidays, helping us grow further, strengthen our culture, and increase our roster of volunteers.
Since 2018, the club has been known as Young Heroes Leicester Dynamite - continuing our long-standing commitment to developing young people through basketball.
Young Heroes Leicester Dynamite operates 9 youth squads, working with more than 135 young people and competing in two major leagues.
The National Basketball League (NBL) sits directly below the UK’s top flight professional Super League Basketball. The NBL league structure includes semi‑pro, amateur, and junior clubs from across England.
Leicester Dynamite competes in NBL leagues across a range of age groups:
The Youth Basketball League (YBL) is a regional grassroots league structure for junior players in the Midlands. It was created to give players competitive gametime outside of the NBL pathway.

Annual tryouts for Young Heroes Leicester Dynamite junior sides take place each May.
However, if you miss these dates, you can still be assessed mid-season.
Contact us and we will invite you to attend a session to try out alongside your appropriate age group.
Young Heroes Leicester Dynamite play and train at the Ball Hall at WQE College’s Regent Road campus.
The £1.9m Ball Hall was opened in 2014 by GB Olympic Basketball Captain and two-time British Basketball League MVP Drew Sullivan.
It has full changing facilities and classrooms, with plenty of off-street parking accessible from Lancaster Road. The car park entrance is opposite the Attenborough Arts Centre.
Located at the heart of the University of Leicester campus, the Ball Hall also includes a state-of-the-art fitness suite, netball courts, cricket nets, and a five-a-side football pitch.

We have a single monthly membership fee which covers all regular training sessions and games and is paid by direct debit.
As an inclusive club, we have a discreet system to support those who genuinely could not otherwise afford membership.
This is made possible through the generous support of the Samworth Brothers Community Opportunity Fund and can be applied for to cover kit and travel costs and other expenses.
