The aim of the Future Dynamite Academy is to build confidence and develop skills in young players before they move into competitive squads.
Leicester Dynamite has officially launched its brand-new Future Dynamite Academy.
The club held an Open Day on Saturday, welcoming prospective young players and their families during their community session at WQE College Ball Hall.
The event gave children in Years 4 and 5 the chance to meet Dynamite coaches and current players, find out more about the club, and discover what the new Academy pathway will offer.
Families were able to ask questions, see the welcoming environment first-hand and learn how the programme will help young players build confidence, develop core basketball skills and enjoy the game.
The club has created the Future Dynamite Academy to give children a dedicated, development-focused introduction to basketball before they move into the club’s Under-12 league squads.
Rather than placing players immediately into competitive fixtures, the Academy will focus on the foundations including technical ability, coordination, teamwork, and confidence.
Players will train together on Saturday mornings as part of Leicester Dynamite’s community basketball sessions, supported by the club’s experienced coaching team. As the programme grows, there is also potential for a second weekly session.
Head Coach Dave Harris said: “We’re really pleased with the turnout at the open day and how well it went. We had 16 young people turn up, and the energy throughout the session was fantastic. There was lots of fun, and we received some great feedback from the parents.
“The Academy is all about giving young players the right start. We want children to come in, enjoy basketball, learn the fundamentals and grow in confidence.
“It’s about helping them develop, work hard and be ready for the next step when the time is right.”
If your child is interested in playing basketball and joining the Future Dynamite Academy come along to one of our community sessions on Saturdays 10am-12 at WQE College Ball Hall.
