Leicester Dynamite launches new academy to encourage future ballers

What is the Future Dynamite Academy?

The Academy has been created specifically for children in Years 4 and 5, giving them a dedicated season to build foundational skills and confidence before progressing into Leicester Dynamite's Under-12s league squads. 

Rather than throwing young players straight into competitive fixtures, the Academy focuses on development first - technical skills, teamwork, coordination, and enjoyment - so that when players do step up to Under-12s level, they're ready both physically and mentally.

Weekly training sessions

Academy members will train together every Saturday morning as part of the club's regular community session - with the potential of a second weekly training session. These sessions give children a consistent, supportive environment to learn the fundamentals of basketball alongside children of a similar age, all under the guidance of experienced Dynamite coaches.

Open Day

Families are invited to the club's Future Dynamite Academy Open Day, taking place on Saturday, August 29, from 10am to 12pm at WQE Ball Hall. The Open Day will give parents and children the opportunity to come along, meet the coaching team, see what a typical session looks like, and ask any questions before signing up. Whether your child has never picked up a basketball before or already has some experience, anyone is welcome to attend and find out more.

Founding member rewards

To celebrate the launch, Leicester Dynamite is rewarding early support with a special founding members' offer. The first 50 children to join the Future Dynamite Academy will receive an exclusive Future Dynamite Academy T-shirt and a founding member certificate.

Programmes like the Future Dynamite Academy are part of the club's ongoing commitment to nurturing talent at a grassroots level, ensuring boys and girls have a pathway into the sport, and eventually, into the club's competitive squads. 

Head Coach Dave Harris said: "Every great player starts somewhere, and we want that somewhere to be here at Leicester Dynamite. The Future Dynamite Academy isn't just about teaching kids how to dribble or shoot -  it's about building confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. 

“By starting early with structured, enjoyable coaching, the Academy aims to build not just better players, but confident, well-rounded young athletes. We’re excited to launch the Academy and look forward to new faces joining us."
