Leicester Dynamite's Asher Ogan selected for England Talent Programme

24 April 2026

Asher plays for Leicester Dynamite's U16 team who won their league and have secured promotion this season.

Asher Ogan from Leicester Dynamite has taken a huge step forward in his basketball journey after being selected for the England Talent Programme Selection Camp in Manchester this summer.

The invitation places Asher among a select group of young players from across the country who have been recognised for their potential to represent England at national level.

The three-day camp will run from Friday 5 June to Sunday 7 June 2026 at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, a venue that regularly hosts elite-level basketball.

During the camp, Basketball England Talent staff and appointed coaches will closely assess U14 and U15 boys and girls, putting them through their paces on and off the court. Their goal is to identify the players who have the skill, attitude and potential to pull on an England jersey this summer.

Successful players from the camp will be earmarked for places in England’s national teams, with opportunities including the U14 Home Nations Tournament in Cardiff from 26-28 June, as well as further U14 and U15 national team activities to be confirmed shortly.

Those selected will take part in at least one of these events, gaining valuable experience against top-level opposition and learning what it takes to perform on the international stage.

For Asher, this is a fantastic reward for his hard work with Leicester Dynamite - being part of the U16s team who were crowned league champions this season and also promoted.

Being invited to the camp alone is a significant achievement and a signal that he is firmly on the radar of national team selectors.

Leicester Dynamite Head coach Dave Harris said: “Making the England selection camp at U14 level is a huge achievement. It reflects not only the player’s talent but their attitude, discipline and willingness to keep improving. We couldn’t be prouder of Asher.”

Asher said: “Two years ago I was at another club in Leicester getting no playing time. Since I’ve been at Dynamite, the coaches and especially Dave Harris, have helped me really develop my game. I am proud to have been selected and be representing Leicester Dynamite.”
