Leicester Dynamite basketball camp raises over £700 for charity LOROS

28 May 2026

The three-day May half-term camp saw dozens of young people attend to raise money for charity.

Leicester Dynamite’s three day camp gave youngsters the chance to get active, learn new skills and make friends in a fun, supportive environment - while raising money for a good cause.

Across the three days, participants learnt new basketball skills and techniques, developed their confidence. resilience and teamwork and enjoyed structured games and competitions.

All sessions were led by our experienced community coaches, who focus on enjoyment, player development, and creating a positive environment on and off the court.

Head Coach Dave Harris said the camp raised £702 for LOROS, in support of Sharne Hawksley’s fundraiser. Sharne ran the London Marathon last month for Loros after she was supported by their services following the death of her father.

LOROS provides free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Dave said: “The camp was a fantastic success, bringing together young players for 3 exciting days of basketball while raising money for an amazing cause, LOROS Hospice.

“Thank you to all the children who attended the camp and supported such a worthwhile charity. Your energy, enthusiasm, and generosity helped make the event very special.

“‘Despite Monday and Tuesday being some of the hottest days of the year, the players worked incredibly hard, showed great determination, and enjoyed every moment of the camp. Coaches and volunteers were proud to see everyone supporting each other and representing the Leicester Dynamite spirit.

“A big thank you also goes to the parents, coaches, and supporters who helped make the camp possible. Leicester Dynamite continues to be proud of its strong community spirit and commitment to giving back.

“Well done to everyone involved!”
