Leicester Dynamite U14s secure place in playoff final while U16s head to semi

Leicester Dynamite U14s won their playoff semi-final against City of Leeds while the U16s beat Sheffield Arrows in the quarter final.

Leicester Dynamite junior teams continue to impress on the national stage, with both the U14s and U16s progressing in the National Basketball League play-offs.

The U14s booked their place in the play-off final with a strong 62-44 win over City of Leeds away.

After a tight first quarter, Dynamite found their rhythm at both ends of the floor - tightening up defensively, rebounding well and pushing the ball in transition. Once they took control of the tempo, they led the game and won comfortably by 18 points.

There was late drama for the U16s, who edged past Sheffield Arrows 84-82 in a thriller to reach the play-off semi-finals. In a game of momentum swings, neither side was able to pull away and the contest went right down to the final possessions. Dynamite held their nerve, made key plays in the closing stages and showed great composure to secure a two-point victory in front of a noisy home crowd.

Leicester Dynamite U16s with Coach Dave Harris

Head Coach Dave Harris was delighted with the performances across both teams. “I’m incredibly proud of these players,” he said.

“The U14s really stepped up in a high-pressure game and deserve their place in the final, while the U16s showed real determination to grind out a tough win.

“They’ve been working hard all season and it’s great to see that pay off. Now it’s about staying focused and seeing how far we can go.”

Reaching the latter stages of the play-offs in two age groups is a fantastic achievement for the club’s junior programme. The U14s now turn their attention to the play-off final, while the U16s prepare for a huge semi-final. Dates and venues TBC.
