U16's guard Asher was chosen to be part of the squad for the Home Nations tournament following an England selection camp.
Leicester Dynamite U16s guard Asher Ogan stepped onto the international stage last weekend.
Asher represented England at the Home Nations tournament in Cardiff and helped his country record three dominant wins.
England opened with a 129-31 victory over Scotland on Saturday, followed it up with a 142-20 win against Wales, and then completed the clean sweep on Sunday by beating Ireland 104-65.
For Asher, the tournament was a chance to test himself at the highest junior level and show the skills he has honed with Leicester Dynamite.
The pace, physicality and intensity of three games in quick succession demanded focus and resilience - the same traits he has shown throughout Dynamite’s U16 campaign, which this year saw the team promoted to the North Premier division.
Asher was chosen to be part of the England squad after being invited to attend the England Talent Programme Selection Camp in Manchester.
Head Coach Dave Harris said Asher’s performances and selection reflect his attitude on and off the court.
He said: “Asher has been outstanding all season. He trains hard, listens, and consistently looks to improve. To see him not just selected for England but contributing in three big wins is a proud moment for him, his family and everyone at Leicester Dynamite. It shows what’s possible when talent is matched with commitment.”
For Asher, pulling on the England jersey was both a reward and a new challenge:
“Representing England at Home Nations was amazing. The level was high, the games were fast, and it pushed me to play my best every time I stepped on court. I’m really grateful to my coaches and teammates at Leicester Dynamite for helping me get to this point, and I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned back to the club next season.”
Asher’s success underlines Leicester Dynamite’s commitment to player development and to creating pathways from local club basketball to national recognition.
